Two men charged in last week’s violent home invasion in Pitt County were in the country illegally, according to deputies.

Jonathan Garcia-Larios and Zaid Mayen were both arrested on Friday, according to WITN reports.

Garcia-Larios, who is homeless, was first booked into the Franklin County jail and then transferred to Pitt County on Sunday. Mayen, of Chapel Hill, was booked into the Orange County Detention Center.

Both men were charged with first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, first-degree kidnapping and first-degree forcible sex offense.

The two are being held without bond. Deputies said ICE detainers have been placed on both suspects.
